Bixby Introduces New TE103 Elastic Taping
They have become a new accessory to our everyday attire - face masks. However, we can all probably agree that necessity has won over comfort as most of these are not very easy to wear for long periods of time. Many people have been doing their part to create at home masks or purchase more trendy styles from their favorite vendors. No matter what, or how you are wearing them, we thank you for your efforts to keep others around you safe.
With that appreciation in mind, Bixby is happy to share that we now have a more comfortable mask solution available. Our new line of latex-free elastic taping, TE103 is a copolymer with excellent stretch and recovery. This unique tape is thin and soft to the touch. It can be custom made to meet thickness, gauge, and color requirements as well. One of the benefits is its ability to evenly distribute pressure which alleviates red marks and pulling on the skin and hair that is often the struggle with most elastic straps. Additionally, it can be machine washed and reused time and time again.
While the material can be heat adhered to fabric (flat press at ~350°F), it also has the strength to be sewn without tearing from the needle punctures. For a simple solution in facemasks, the taping can be pulled through a sewn piece and tied as seen in the video below.
Bixby manufactures this material in-house at its Newburyport, Massachusetts location. Contact us today to learn more or to let us provide a custom taping solution.
