Bixby International Sponsors Rubbish to Runway's Business Waste Challenge Fundraiser
Bixby International is a proud sponsor of Rubbish to Runway's Business Waste Challenge, which is a showcase of discarded waste materials that have been converted into wearable fashion to raise money for the Long Way Home nonprofit organization.
Long Way Home uses sustainable design and materials to construct self-sufficient schools in underdeveloped countries that promote education, employment, and environmental stewardship.
For this month's first annual Business Waste Challenge, Bixby provided local designer Anna Comella with discarded plastic waste materials from which Anna fabricated a two-piece matching skirt and blouse that was auctioned off at the fundraiser.
"Bixby International is very pleased to support the Business Waste Challenge," said President & CEO Dan Rocconi. "We're proud of Bixby's track record as a socially responsible neighbor in Newburyport and the surrounding communities, and we're honored to support the great work being done by the Long Way Home organization whose efforts will be supported by the funds raised at the Rubbish to Runway event."
In addition to providing waste materials for the outfit that was shown at the event, Bixby International was a primary sponsor of the Business Waste Challenge, which was held on October 14 in Salisbury, MA. More than 350 people attended the sold out event, and over $15,000 was raised for the Long Way Home charity.
