Bixby International Awarded $116K Workforce Grant for Employee Training & Continuing Education
The Baker-Polito Administration recently announced $10 million in Workforce Training Fund Program (WTFP) grants that were distributed among 133 companies from across the Commonwealth. The aim of the grants is to fund and encourage customized training for employees which promotes job growth, retention and increased opportunities in the workplace. Giving local businesses the ability to offer additional skills training to their workforce also allows the Massachusetts businesses to grow and become more productive which in turn helps to drive a robust economy in the Bay State.
Bixby International is proud to have been awarded over $116,000 of the Workforce grant to help further our employee skill sets. During the application process, employees were asked where they would most like to be able to improve or receive additional training to help them to excel in the workplace. Some of the classes Bixby is offering include lean courses, computer training (both basic and high level), language courses, leadership & managerial skills, ISO certification processes and more.
“The Workforce Training Fund Program empowers Massachusetts businesses to undertake the same kind of critical upskilling we have seen companies invest in over the past year,” said Governor Charlie Baker. “Employers can get the skilled workforce they need to thrive, create opportunities for growth and remain competitive in an ever-changing global economy.”
Employees are thrilled to have these educational opportunities available to them. In addition, Bixby is happy to be able to provide another method of improving the work culture for the company as a whole.
The Workforce Training Fund covers employee training programs over a two-year period. As a part of the agreement, grant recipients will contribute a matching investment of at least one dollar for each grant-dollar awarded, which can include wages paid to trainees during training hours.
This project is funded by a Workforce Training Fund grant from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development. The grant program is administered by Commonwealth Corporation.
